Block Paving Sealing Treatments
Block Paving Protective Coatings
When the area is completely dry we can begin the re-sanding and sealing process, the re-sanding is essential after a deep clean as it ensures the blocks can’t slip and slide about. Kiln-Dried Sand is carefully brushed between each gap/joint to ensure that all the bricks are secured tightly in place. It is then recommended that the sealant is applied as soon after the re-sanding as possible to prevent any unwanted dirt, moss, grass or weeds getting chance to settle on the surface or between the gaps.
The main purposes of Block Paving Sealers are to stabilise the joint sand, enhance the natural colour, protect the surface from stains such as oil etc and finally, (to quote the manufactures) “Help Prevent Weed and Moss Growth” . We’ve found that Polyurethane Sealers tend to be the best in terms of longevity and these are applied by either a pressure sprayer or long handled roller system.
Vehicles should be kept off the paving for at least 36 hours after the sealant is applied. People and pets should keep off the area until it is completely dry (4 hours approx).
